In the beginning, I
started out with a young male and attended several expositions with him, purely
for the fun of it. Surprisingly, I acquired some very nice results! During this
period and shortly afterwards, I started building up a good rapport with some
breeders and through time and contact we developed a good friendship. I was very
interested in Chow Chows and became interested in all aspects, wanting to learn
everything I could about these fascinating creatures. My dream was to own
several quality Chows, to love, train and handle for shows, to breed puppies
with the best attributes of their parents and positively contribute to the breed
itself.
At the time, I contacted a breeder in the Netherlands, Lissette van den Aker,
owner of China’s Joy Chow Chows, to talk to her about purchasing one of her
puppies. As time went by, we developed a great friendship and she was a
tremendous help in the important stage of starting up. During this time I
obtained three of her Chow Chows, Gavin, Budda and Saba. Our friendship
developed to the point where we started to work together to add even more to the
breed.
While showing Saba, a whole new world opened up for me, she started out very
well, with a promising show career and needless to say, her results were
thrilling. During this time, I became aware of a totally different side to the
show world… jealousy… it caught me by surprise and I felt quite sad about how
that emotion showed up in behaviour that wasn’t very nice. Happily enough I had
amazing friends, Luis and Angela Arenas Lopez of Goodtimes Chow Chows, they
helped me through this difficult time and we developed a wonderful sincere
friendship.
Interestingly, having gone through this, I became part of a fantastic network
and ended up in contact with Vancie Drew of Mei Ling’s Chow Chows in the USA and
acquired a male, Vulcano, from her kennel. Recently I visited Vancie and brought
home two females, Kameo and Vesta. My stay with Vancie was a joyful learning
experience and a new friendship was born.
I appreciate it so much to have such great friends that I can talk to openly and
honestly about pretty much everything… to me that is the true meaning of
friendship.
You can set up as many rules as you like about the breeding process but the best
way to succeed is to honestly share experiences and information about the breed.
Such a big part of my dream has come true because of the help of sincere friends,
those whom I wish to introduce on this page.

A special thank you to Vancie and Bruce for accommodating us in your home and the opportunity to spend time at your fantastic kennel! It truly was a wonderful experience!
